Q: What is HeiferHogHen?

A: HeiferHogHen is a brand committed to providing high-quality, pasture-raised beef, pork, lamb, and chicken. Our animals are given digity, raised in a natural environment without the use of hormones or antibiotics, ensuring exceptional taste and nutrition.

Q: What is HeiferHogHen's feed statement?

A: All cattle raised for meat production by Heifer, Hog & Hen are never administered any kind of growth promotants, preservatives, or fillers throughout their life. This includes any added synthetic or natural form of growth hormone implants. Beta agonists are not allowed to be fed.

All cattle raised for meat sales are segregated from other cattle to ensure they remain free of hormones. In addition, they are never administered any antibiotics or any kind including ionophores in feed, water, or intra-muscular injection. Additionally, we want to ensure that we never have nor will we ever use anything related to mRNA vaccine or any derivative there of.

Q: Where do your animals come from?

A: Our animals are raised on our small, sustainable ranch that prioritize animal welfare and environmental stewardship. In addition to our own cattle production, We partner with rancher's who share our commitment to regenerative agriculture and ethical farming practices.

Q: What is regenerative agriculture?

A: Regenerative agriculture is a system of farming practices that prioritize soil health, biodiversity, and ecosystem restoration. This approach not only produces healthier, tastier meat but also helps combat climate change and support rural communities.

Q: Are your animals grass-fed?

A: Yes, our beef & lamb are raised on a diet of nutrient-rich grasses because they are herbivores. While our chicken & pork is pasture-raised with access to natural forage and supplemental non GMO, No Corn, No Soy feed. This diet results in meat that is higher in essential nutrients and lower in unhealthy fats compared to conventionally raised animals.

Q: Can you explain the term “greenwashing“ and “grass finish”?

A: Yes,at HHH we are committed to changing the industry and moving away from fake marketing tactics and terminology that confuses consumers. Therefore, we refuse to participate in many of the traditional marketing terms that are deceptive and create confusion. Greenwashing in agriculture refers to the practice of companies misleadingly promoting their products or practices as environmentally friendly, sustainable, or organic without making significant efforts to reduce their environmental impact. It involves exaggerating or fabricating the environmental benefits of a product or practice to appeal to eco-conscious consumers, while the actual practices may not live up to those claims. This is similar to the term “grass finished”. People talk about grass fed and grass finished beef. But finishing is generally a change of forage typically to grain or corn. It’s a term often referred to by commercial feedlots. If it’s grass fed and it continues to be grass fed until it’s slaughtered for processing then there is no “finishing” stage. It simply remains grass fed, even when a change to other types of grass or forage are used or supplemented. An example of this is hay, alfalfa, silage or some other type of unprocessed grass mix. So the term “grass finished” can be deceiving and in most cases is a marketing gimmick. Our philosophy is to simply tell you what we do honestly and avoid greenwashing terminology.

Q: Do you use hormones or antibiotics?

A: No, we do not use hormones or antibiotics in raising our animals. Our focus is on providing them with a natural, healthy environment where they can thrive without the need for artificial growth promoters or medical intervention.
